Spiritual companionship in Mesa, Arizona

Spiritual companionship is a listening conversation about your life, your direction, and what you already know. At Solstave it is offered one-to-one on a private property in Mesa, and it is not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.

What is spiritual companionship?

Spiritual companionship is accompaniment. Someone sits with you while you work out what is true for you, asks questions that go deeper than you would go on your own, and does not hand you conclusions.

The starting question here is always the same. How is your heart feeling today?

It is a harder question than how are you doing, and it is meant to be. Most of us have an answer ready for the second one that means nothing at all. You are welcome to answer the first one honestly. Frustrated. Sad. Exhausted. Anxious. Confused. Fine, actually, and unsure why that feels uncomfortable to say.

Whatever you say, nobody rushes to fix it.

Is this the same as spiritual counseling or therapy?

No. Spiritual companionship at Solstave is not psychotherapy, professional counseling, or mental health treatment, and it is not delivered by a licensed mental health professional acting in that capacity.

We do not diagnose conditions. We do not treat them. We do not prescribe anything, and we do not offer clinical assessment or a treatment plan.

If you are working with a therapist, a counselor, a psychiatrist, or a physician, keep working with them. If something in our conversation suggests you would benefit from clinical care, we will say so plainly. Spiritual companionship sits alongside that care. It does not stand in for it.

What I offer is attention. Time, quiet, and someone paying close enough attention that you stop performing. That is a real thing and it is in short supply, but it is not clinical care and I will never describe it as such.

what happens

What happens in a session?

You sit down somewhere comfortable, usually outside under the trees, and you talk. There is no intake script and no set agenda.

Expect long silences. They are deliberate. Most of us answer before we have actually checked, because we have been trained to keep a conversation moving. Here the next question waits until you are genuinely finished, and something different tends to surface in the gap.

You may be asked what you are noticing in your body. Where things tighten. What your breathing does when a particular subject comes up. Your body has been sending information for years and most of us learned to ignore it.

Nothing is recorded. Nothing is reported anywhere. What you say here stays here.

Do I have to be religious?

No. Solstave is spiritual rather than religious. There is no doctrine, no scripture, no prayer you are expected to join, and no assumption about your beliefs.

Women come here from every tradition and from none at all. Some have left a faith they grew up in and are not looking to be recruited back. Some hold a faith deeply and want somewhere to think out loud that is not their congregation. Both are welcome, and neither will be corrected.

The word spiritual here means the part of you underneath the roles. Nothing more complicated than that.

Who comes for this?

  • A woman in a transition she did not choose and cannot talk about at home
  • A woman who is competent, respected, and quietly cannot remember what she wants
  • A woman carrying grief that other people think she should be finished with by now
  • A woman who has been everyone's support system and has nowhere to put her own weight down
  • A woman making a decision that only she can make and needs room to hear herself think

Why we do not give advice

Because you already know. That is not a nice thing to say to someone, it is the actual operating premise of this work.

In almost every conversation, the woman sitting there already carries the answer and has simply had no quiet place to hear it. What she needs is not another opinion from a person who has known her for forty minutes. She needs safety, time, and someone paying close enough attention that she stops performing.

Sometimes she needs a little guiding. That is different from being told.

How to begin

Spiritual companionship is included in every Solstave experience rather than sold on its own. Remember, our two hour introduction, opens with roughly thirty minutes of it and then moves into personalized body care.

That pairing is intentional. A conversation that reaches somewhere real leaves a mark on the body, and it helps to have somewhere to put it afterward.

Solstave is in Mesa, Arizona, about thirty minutes from central Phoenix and close to Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, and Scottsdale. Call or write and we will talk through which experience fits and what it costs.
